Beautiful villa with attractive architectural features situated outside Castiglion Fiorentino, 15 km from lovely Cortona a typical Tuscan town on the hills of the Val di Chiana,surrounded by age-old olive groves and ancient cypress trees. The origins of the town date back in history.It certainly already existed before the Etruscan period, though it was in the late Middle Ages that it underwent a period of great expansion in urbanistic terms, to reach the present-day layout of the town.
Today it’s a busy but tranquil town which offers its visitors numerous cultural events planned throughout the year,town festivals and folkloristic shows as well as the many historic and artistic treasures of considerable value. Recently restored and situated on the slopes of a hill looking onto the Val di Chiana below , certainly the ideal spot for anyone wanting to spend their holiday in a suggestive country villa, without sacrificing any of the comforts of modern life.
The internal fittings, equipment and furnishings of the house are of an high standard and ensure the maximum comfort.Around the villa , there is an extensive park of age-old olive trees, fenced in and equipped with gazebo, garden furniture, barbecue, wood-burning oven and an attractive swimming pool of 6 x 12 metres (depth 1,20-2,40 m). The region recently featured in the opening sequences of James Bond; Quantum of Solace in which a chase scene took place through the preserved streets of Sienna during the historical Palio. A festival of sport and local rivalries The Palio is a unique horse race that takes place in the piazza del publico in the centre of this medieval city.
The sights and sounds of competing contrada, municipal districts named after animals, is hard to beat. Each contrada parades through the streets in the days leading up to the race dressed in ornate historical clothing, banging drums and waving flags with awe-inspiring and well-rehearsed precision. On race days, July 2 and August 16, the city is filled to bursting with a party atmosphere and all the excitement of up close bareback horse riding.
For something a little less exhausting the ancient hilltop town of Montelpulciano hosts the Bravio delle Botti during the last week of August. This picturesque town is famed for its surrounding vineyards and has been hosting the wine festival since the 17th century. A week of different ceremonies and special wine tastings culminates in a barrel rolling contest through the narrow streets.
